Background: Administrative burden and clinical documentation demands significantly impact GP productivity and patient care quality in the UK. AI ambient scribe technology offers potential to reduce documentation time whilst maintaining clinical quality.

Objective: To evaluate the real-world impact of Docwise AI Ambient Scribe on GP productivity, documentation quality, clinician wellbeing, and patient care across diverse practice settings.

Methods: Five UK GPs working in varied roles/settings (remote telephone only, single-site face-to-face, locum multi-site, part-time and full-time with home visits) piloted the Docwise AI Ambient Scribe over a 2-month period. The platform generated thousands of clinical outputs including consultation notes, clinical requests and referral letters. Mixed-methods evaluation included time-motion analysis, quality assessments, clinician-reported outcomes, and organisational impact metrics.

Results: Implementation of Docwise AI Ambient Scribe demonstrated significant improvements across all measured parameters: 30% reduction in post-consultation documentation time, 100% same-day documentation completion, improved clinical documentation quality scores and it provided high clinician satisfaction ratings. Organisational benefits included capacity gains equivalent to 1 additional patient appointment per session and GPs saved 3 minutes per consultation on documentation time which equated to 5 hours saved per week on average when seeing 20 patients a day.

Conclusions: Docwise AI Ambient Scribe successfully reduced administrative burden whilst maintaining clinical quality across diverse UK general practice settings. The technology demonstrated consistent benefits regardless of consultation modality (telephone, face-to-face, home visits) or GP role (partner, salaried, locum), indicating broad applicability across the NHS primary care landscape.
